Quebec Self-Employed Workers

Description of the program prior to July 2012
The Quebec Self-Employed Worker Program is an attractive immigration program for foreign nationals who are self-employed and intend to become self-employed in the Province of Quebec. There are no conditions placed on Quebec selected self-employed workers upon entry to Canada and processing times are significantly faster than the Federal Self-Employed Worker Program.
To qualify you must intend to settle in Quebec, create your own job by practicing a profession or trade, have alone, or with your accompanying spouse net assets of at least $100,000 CAD that was obtained legally, and have at least two years of experience as a self-employed worker in the profession or trade you plan to practise in Quebec.
The following selection factors are also taken into account:
- • your age and the age of your spouse, if applicable
- • the nature and duration of your respective professional training
- • your language skills
- • your personal qualities and your knowledge of Quebec
