Launched in August 2022, RNIP aimed to encourage newcomers to settle in Canada's remote regions, with each region allowed to invite up to 125 candidates per year. However, IRCC has chosen not to renew RNIP and is introducing a new Rural Community Immigration Pilot Program this fall. This new program will function similarly to the Atlantic Immigration Program, providing more support to designated employers in rural areas.
IRCC has not yet released details on the participating communities or eligibility criteria for the new pilot. The program is part of ongoing efforts to address labor shortages in rural and northern Canada and may pave the way for a permanent rural immigration program.
