On August 2, on the 10th anniversary of the massacre in Sinjar, Yazidi survivors gathered at Queen’s Park in Toronto to urge the Canadian government to fulfill its promise of reuniting them with family members left behind.
In 2017, Canada pledged to resettle ethnic and religious minorities from Iraq, including Yazidi survivors, but many families remain separated.
The survivors are calling for equal and fair treatment, emphasizing the ongoing danger faced by their families in Iraq and the need for Canada to take their issue seriously.
