Canada Flags 10,000 Fake Student Acceptance Letters, Most Linked to India

Canadian authorities have flagged over 10,000 fake student acceptance letters in 2024, with a significant portion tied to applicants from India.

This discovery follows enhanced scrutiny of international student applications, as Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) reviewed over 500,000 documents this year to detect fraudulent practices.

The crackdown follows a major incident in 2023, where several international students faced deportation after being found with fake acceptance letters issued by an unlicensed consultant in India. In response, IRCC implemented stricter verification measures to address these fraudulent schemes and protect genuine applicants seeking to study in Canada.
