If you applied for your study permit before November 1, 2024, you are exempt from the new field of study requirements for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). However, you must still meet the updated language proficiency requirements.
Graduates of bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral programs are always exempt from field of study requirements, regardless of when their study permit application was submitted. The field of study requirements only apply to graduates of college and university vocational programs whose study permits were submitted after November 1, 2024.
For those changing schools, if a new study permit is required, the date of this application will determine whether the new rules apply. Ensure the new school is on the approved DLI list and not on the suspension list to retain eligibility.
