Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced that starting spring 2025, Express Entry candidates will no longer receive additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points for having a valid job offer.
This change will apply to all new and existing candidates in the Express Entry pool, including those currently working in Canada temporarily.
Currently, valid job offers provide an extra 50 or 200 CRS points, which can significantly increase a candidate’s chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence. IRCC clarified that this measure is temporary but has not indicated when it will end.
Who Will Be Affected?
The removal of CRS points for job offers will apply to all Express Entry candidates, regardless of their sector or occupation. However, it will not affect those who:
- Have already received an ITA based on their CRS score, which included points for arranged employment.
- Have submitted their permanent residence (PR) application to IRCC and are awaiting processing.
