The Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) will adopt a new system in 2025, where applications will only be accepted during specific intake periods. The first intake period starts on January 29, 2025, and will accept a maximum of 125 applications.
What’s Changing?
Previously, applicants could submit their applications at any time during the year, and there were no limits on the number of applications. However, in 2024, the number of applications increased significantly, exceeding Yukon’s nomination quota. As a result, the program had to temporarily stop accepting applications, particularly from employers in Whitehorse.
With this new system:
- Applications will only be accepted during designated intake periods.
- Each intake will have a fixed cap on the number of applications (e.g., 125 for the first intake).
- Once the cap is reached, you’ll need to wait for the next intake period to apply.
Why This Change?
The new system will help manage applications more effectively and ensure they are spread out over the year. It will also give applicants a clear timeline for when to apply, reducing the chance of missing opportunities.
How Can You Apply?
To apply, you’ll need to find an employer in Yukon who needs workers. Together with your employer, you’ll submit your application. If your application is approved, you’ll receive a nomination from Yukon, which allows you to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
