The Canadian government announced it will not accept new applications for the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) in 2025. IRCC will focus on processing up to 15,000 applications submitted in 2024.
Canadian citizens and permanent residents can still invite their parents and grandparents using the Super Visa, allowing extended visits of up to five years.
This pause aligns with reduced 2025 immigration targets, which include a decrease in PGP-sponsored permanent residents to 24,500 from previous targets of 34,000.
