IRCC has recently begun inviting certain visitor visa applicants for in-person interviews, a development observed in select cases.
In one instance, a visitor already in Canada received a notice that their visa had been cancelled. After returning to their home country, they were asked to attend an interview at the New Delhi visa office.
During the interview, applicants were requested to present original financial and employment documents and answer questions about their travel purpose and family members in Canada. The individual later received a new visa and was able to return to visit their child studying in Canada.
IRCC continues to assess applications carefully. Individuals applying for a visitor visa are encouraged to:
- Provide complete and accurate documentation
- Demonstrate connections to their home country
- Avoid using unauthorized representatives
