Latest PNP Draws in Alberta and Newfoundland

Two new immigration draws this past week show a clear difference in provincial strategies.

Alberta: Focused and Steady
Alberta invited 39 candidates on July 25, all with construction experience. The province continues to target key sectors like construction, agriculture, aviation, and healthcare through its Express Entry stream. With over 1,700 nomination spaces still available this year, Alberta is staying focused but active.

Newfoundland and Labrador: Sharp Drop in Invitations
In contrast, Newfoundland and Labrador issued just 150 invitations on July 29. This was its lowest draw since switching to a points-based system earlier this year. The province appears to be slowing things down, with fewer invitations and tighter selection.

Healthcare, tech, and aquaculture remain priority sectors, but overall, the province is moving cautiously despite having over 700 nomination spaces still unused.

While Alberta is zeroing in on specific job sectors, Newfoundland may be taking a slower, more cautious path. For candidates, that means aligning with in-demand roles is more critical than ever, especially as provinces tighten their selection.
