  • At least 12 months of full-time work experience or equivalent part-time
  • Gained within the last 3 years
  • In one single eligible NOC occupation
  • Experience can be obtained anywhere in the world

Air Pilots, Flight Engineers and Flying Instructors
NOC 72600

Automotive Service Technicians, Truck and Bus Mechanics, Mechanical Repairers
NOC 72410

Aircraft Mechanics and Aircraft Inspectors
NOC 72404

Aircraft Instrument, Electrical and Avionics Mechanics, Technicians and Inspectors
NOC 22313

Technical Notes

  • Eligibility is determined by duties performed, not job title.
  • You must meet the NOC lead statement and perform most main duties.
  • Your Express Entry primary occupation does not need to match the Transport occupation used for category eligibility.
  • Aviation occupations are federally regulated; automotive trades are provincially regulated.

While qualifying work experience can be gained anywhere in the world, receiving permanent residence does not automatically authorize you to work in a regulated occupation in Canada. After landing, you may need to complete certification, licensing, or assessment requirements before practicing your trade. Requirements vary depending on the occupation and province.
