IRCC announced eight important changes as of April 2026

Canada’s immigration system is seeing several updates.

1. Passport fees increased
Processing fees increased slightly due to inflation and higher production costs.

2. 30-day passport guaranteed delivery
30 business days guaranteed service or it’s basically FREE

3.Citizenship processing fee increased slightly
The right to citizenship fee increased by about $3.
The processing fee stayed the same.

4.Super visa easier proof of income eligibility
Applicants can use their annual income plus their parent’s income to meet the eligibility

5.Provinces have more power over selection
Residency obligations and the applicant’s ability for economic success will be assessed by the province without federal interference

6.Settlement services limitation
New PRs can use services that are now limited for up to 6 years in 2026 and will drop to 5 years in 2027 post landing.

7.More job opportunities for foreign workers in rural areas
Rural employers can hire more foreign workers up to 15% of the workforce instead of previous 10%rate

8.Saskatchewan processing fee increase
Increase to $500 application fee and $250 review fee (if needed)
