Alberta Targets Tech, Health, and Trades in Latest Immigration Rounds

Between April 8 and 14, 2026, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) held four draws and issued 332 invitations across key sectors, focusing on labour shortages in tech, health care, construction, and rural communities.

Main draw results:

  • Tech (Accelerated Tech Pathway): 146 invitations, score 59
  • Rural Renewal Stream: 74 invitations, score 50
  • Health Care (Express Entry): 62 invitations, score 59
  • Construction & trades (Priority Sectors): 50 invitations, score 60

Tech candidates received the largest share of invitations, about 43% of the total.

So far in 2026, Alberta has:

  • Issued 1,634 nominations out of a total 6,403 spots
  • 4,769 spots still remaining
  • 1,535 applications currently being processed

The largest share of nominations continues to go through the Alberta Opportunity Stream, which accounts for over half of all allocations.

There are currently 42,373 candidates in the selection pool, with most concentrated in the Alberta Opportunity Stream.

Alberta is continuing to prioritize sectors like health care, tech, construction, and rural jobs throughout 2026, aiming to fill ongoing labour shortages across the province.
