Ontario held a new round of provincial draws on April 30, inviting 997 candidates in the Greater Toronto Area through its Employer Job Offer streams.
Most invitations went to foreign workers, with a minimum score of 57, while international student candidates needed 81. These scores come from Ontario’s own Expression of Interest system and are not comparable to Express Entry scores, which are typically much higher.
The draw focused on candidates already in Canada with a valid job offer, mainly in healthcare, tech, construction, and administrative roles. Compared to a similar March draw, more candidates were invited this time, with lower score requirements.
The province has been holding frequent draws ahead of planned changes to its immigration system expected later in May, which may replace current streams with new pathways.
In a separate update, Newfoundland and Labrador invited 190 candidates on May 1 through its provincial program and the Atlantic Immigration Program.
Most invitations went through the provincial nominee program, continuing a pattern seen this year. The province has also increased the number of draws in 2026 compared to last year, with a focus on candidates who have job offers, especially in healthcare and smaller communities.
