Federal Skilled Worker regulation as of January 2015

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) In January 2015, will launch a new electronic system called "Express Entry" Which will be replaced by today's known Federal Skilled Worker and some others. With this fast and efficient system, Canada would fulfill current and future labour market needs, and leads Canada to certain economic growth and long-term prosperity.

This system also can be replaced to for some portion of Provincial Nominee Programs, to help provinces and territories to recruits their potential applicants. Furthermore, Canadian employer plays a key role by selecting immigrants through access to Canada's new Job Bank.

The Express Entry system involves two steps:

Step 1) completing an online Express Entry profile

At this stage, Potential candidates will complete an online Express Entry profile consisting of their education, work history, Language and etc. Those who meet the criteria of one of the federal economic immigration programs subject to Express Entry will be placed in a pool of candidates.

Then candidate comparing to others would be ranked, and the top ranked candidate and those with job offer will be invited to apply for Canadian permanent residency.

Completing an online Express Entry profile does not guarantee that a candidate will receive an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence.

Step 2) Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) would send invitation to selected candidates to apply for permanent residency

Only those who have a high rank comparing to others and those who have a valid Job Offer would receive invitation letter. After letter of invitation candidates have 60 days to submit an electric application.

The process for receiving the Canadian visa for majority of applicants would take Six months or less. And those who did not receive the invitation may re-apply after a year if they still meet the criteria.

Express Entry would result in efficiency and time saving of the process of immigration under economic class.
