A range of candidates in the Express Entry pool who have work experience in one of many Information and Communications Technology (ICT) occupations were prioritized by the province of Ontario under a new initiative that began on June 26. Now, Ontario has clarified which candidates have been targeted for selection by the province.

The Canadian province of Ontario has announced that it is temporarily pausing the intake of applications for select streams through the Ontario Nominee program (OINP), while other OINP streams remain open.

Ontario will be able to nominate 6,900 immigration candidates for Canadian permanent residence through its immigrant nominee program in 2019.

The Corporate Stream of the Ontario Nominee program (OINP) is now accepting applications online, making it easier for applicants to apply and improving processing times.

A new Canadian immigration stream has been launched by the government of Ontario. The Employer Job Offer In-Demand Skills Stream is part of the(OINP), which allows Ontario to nominate individuals for immigration to Canada based on criteria set by the province.

The Government of Ontario has issued 10 new invitations to apply to entrepreneurs looking to settle permanently in the province. The minimum score for the latest draw, which took place on May 14, was 127.

The government of Ontario will issue Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to Express Entry candidates who are eligible for Ontario’s Express Entry (HCP) stream on a weekly basis. This stream is part of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).

Ontario’s Human Capital Priorities Stream got the new year off to a big start this week, issuing 1,493 invitations to Express Entry candidates with ranking scores as low as 439.  
The Human Capital Priorities Stream allows the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) to search the federal Express Entry pool for candidates who meet the stream’s federal and provincial eligibility criteria.
Express Entry candidates who receive a Notification of Interest (NOI) from Ontario and apply for a provincial nomination receive an additional 600 points toward their Express Entry ranking score if their application is successful.
These additional 600 points effectively guarantee an invitation from the Government of Canada to apply for permanent residence.
The minimum Express Entry ranking score in this week’s Human Capital Priorities draw, 439, was lower than the minimum score in the last Express Entry draw and all but one Express Entry draw held in 2018.
A nomination from Ontario, however, would raise a score of 439 to 1,039, resulting in an invitation to apply to permanent residence.
This week’s invitation round also saw the Human Capital Priorities Stream resume “general” or non-targeted draws. This means candidates in today’s draw did not necessarily require a job offer in Ontario or French language proficiency to be drawn.
The last four Human Capital Priorities draws of 2018 were used to target Express Entry candidates with specific credentials. Of the four, three targeted candidates with a job offer in Ontario while the fourth specified candidates with proficiency in French.
While neither job offer or French language proficiency were not required in order to be eligible for the Human Capital Priorities Stream, updates to the stream’s application guide that were published in December say candidates with a job offer or work experience in specific occupations or sectors may be prioritized.
The Human Capital Priorities Stream issued 3,719 invitations to Express Entry candidates in 2018, making it by far the busiest of the OINP’s three Express Entry-linked streams last year. Another 1,633 were issued through the French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream and 1,626 went to Express Entry candidates through the Skilled Trades Stream.

After switching to a new intake system, Ontario held its first PNP draw for international students.

Ontario invited 15 candidates with an expression of interest registered under its Entrepreneur Stream to apply in a draw held September 20.

Ontario has invited a total of 271 candidates through the Express Entry French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream so far in 2021.

With the federal Express Entry system conducting draws approximately every two weeks, Ontario’s Human Capital Priorities Stream has captured the attention of economic immigration candidates with five invitation rounds since the start of 2018, including three in February.

Ontario has cautioned applicants to the (OINP) that some people have received emails claiming to be sent by the OINP by fraud. In these emails, the receiver is sent a false Ontario Certificate of Nomination and is asked to pay a “Right of Permanent Residence Fee.”

A new targeted draw through Ontario’s Human Capital Priorities Stream on August 9 issued 947 invitations to Express Entry candidates with Comprehensive Ranking System scores as low as 350. The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program says the (CRS) score range for this latest draw was 350 to 439 and those issued Notifications of Interest (NOIs) submitted their Express Entry profile between January 1, 2018, and August 9, 2018.
