Saskatchewan has conducted the largest ever draw for the Entrepreneur stream of the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP), with 142 international entrepreneurs having been invited to apply to the program following the May 24, 2017 draw. Another new record was set in this draw, as the points threshold required for a candidate to be invited to apply reached its lowest ever cut-off point of 80.

Quebec Entrepreneur program is one of the Quebec three business programs. As of April first, 2016 the immigration program was reopened with a limited cap of 50 applications. The next intake will start April 01, 2017.

Rural communities around Alberta could get a boost of around 40,000 newcomers over the next four years under policies being proposed by the province’s United Conservative Party.

British Columbia is opening a new immigration pilot program to attract foreign entrepreneurs to smaller communities around the province.

The Government of British Columbia continues to invite workers, international graduates, and entrepreneurs at low points thresholds in the most recent draws conducted on November 22 and November 29.

A greater proportion of core-aged newcomers were employed than before the pandemic, according to Statistics Canada's Labour Force Survey.

Canada has been ranked as the second-best country in the world according to the 2023 Best Countries ranking by U.S. News, with Switzerland taking the top spot. This marks an improvement from Canada's third place ranking in 2022.

A new report has highlighted Canada’s track record of safety and peace, with further developments that should enable a future improvement in its ranking. According to the report, such improvements will largely be the result of Canada’s progressive immigration policy.

Canada’s Minister of Immigration, John McCallum, has stated his intention to “substantially increase” the number of new immigrants to Canada in order to fill labour shortages, with a three-year immigration plan expected to be unveiled this fall (autumn).

Canada’s most populated province, Ontario, has provided details on two new business immigration programs that are now open to eligible candidates wishing to invest in the Canadian economy. As the leader in attracting foreign direct investment of any province or state in North America, Ontario’s new business streams are likely to prove popular. The Entrepreneur Stream and the Corporate Stream both operate under the (OINP), a Provincial Nominee Program that allows Ontario to nominate individuals deemed to have credentials that would benefit the local labour market.

Candidates for Express Entry are reminded that profiles are only valid for twelve months from the date they are created. Candidates who have not received an Invitation-to-Apply (ITA) for Permanent Residence and who are still interested in immigrating to Canada must create new profiles in the Express Entry pool.

The Minister of Immigration, John McCallum, has made it quite clear that he wants to increase the overall number of new immigrants to Canada over the coming years. Not only that, but the Express Entry system may also be modified. The exact modifications, if and when they happen, are not yet known. Consequently, and taken together with an expected increase in invitations issued over the coming draws, I would encourage individuals who are currently eligible to enter the pool to do so. It is only once they are in the pool that they can attract the attention of Canadian provinces that are looking to welcome newcomers through a PNP, as well as employers hiring through the system.”
