  • Canada reports over 1 million job vacancies

    A Statistics Canada report reveals job vacancies are reaching all-time highs in Canada.

    The number of job vacancies in Canada reached a record-high of 1,012,900 in March, more than the previous record of 988,300 in September 2021. There was an increase in 186,400 vacancies between February and March. The job vacancy rate, which measures the number of vacant positions as a proportion of vacant and filled positions, matched the record high of 5.9% also observed last September (not seasonally adjusted).

  • Canada to Open Door to More Immigrants in 2015

    Canada plans to increase immigration levels significantly in 2015. Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander stated that Canada aims to welcome as many as 285,000 new permanent residents. Nearly 65% of all admissions will be economic immigrants and their dependents. Mr. Alexander said the goal reflects the government’s view that immigration is crucial to Canada’s economic prosperity.

  • Canada to roll out new ‘Employer Portal’

    Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has announced that it is introducing a new electronic system, known as the Employer Portal, for managing the processing of offers of employment made by Canadian employers to foreign workers. The Employer Portal will be available from October 26, 2015, and will assist Canadian employers looking to hire foreign workers on a temporary basis through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program or the International Mobility Program.

  • Canada updates settlement funds for 2019

    Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada announced updates to the proof of settlement funds required for skilled immigration through the Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC) and Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC).
    The Government of Canada increased the settlement funds figures, which are based on family size and are adjusted annually based on 50 per cent of the low income cut-off totals.
    Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is encouraging candidates to review the new figures to ensure they continue to meet the financial requirements of the Express Entry class under which they are registered, and to keep their funds updated in their Express Entry profile.
    While Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates are not required to demonstrate proof of funds, CEC candidates in the Express Entry pool must also demonstrate proof of funds should they receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence through the Federal Skilled Worker Class.
    Settlement funds are required in order to demonstrate that immigration candidates have the means to establish themselves and their family in Canada and pay for initial costs, such as accommodation.

  • Canada wants more Francophone immigrants from Americas, Europe, Africa and the Middle East

    Canada introduces an action plan to attract French speaking immigrants. The new Action Plan includes $1.4 billion over five years in addition to the $2.7 billion in the previous Action Plan. This adds up to over $4.1 billion over five years. It is the largest amount ever provided by a government to support official languages.

The new Visa Application Centres (VACs) and service points will assist in the collection of Biometric including fingerprints and a photograph for facial recognition, which all foreign nationals from Europe, the Middle East and Africa applying to visit, work, study or settle in Canada will have to provide starting July 31.
