     July, 2012-- Many Canadian immigration programs remain open, despite the Canadian government’s announcement that it will be taking a ‘temporary pause.

  • Canada to roll out new ‘Employer Portal’

    Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has announced that it is introducing a new electronic system, known as the Employer Portal, for managing the processing of offers of employment made by Canadian employers to foreign workers. The Employer Portal will be available from October 26, 2015, and will assist Canadian employers looking to hire foreign workers on a temporary basis through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program or the International Mobility Program.

    Canada’s Minister of Immigration, John McCallum, has stated his intention to “substantially increase” the number of new immigrants to Canada in order to fill labour shortages, with a three-year immigration plan expected to be unveiled this fall (autumn).

The Environics Institute is a research agency that conducts public opinion surveys and collects data on Canadian issues such as the government or economy. Century Initiative is a registered charity run by business leaders and academics that advocates for the population of Canada to reach 100,000,000 by 2100.

  • Changes to Quebec Popular Investor Program

    The Province of Quebec has proposed new regulations for a number of its unique immigration programs, including the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program, or QIIP. Quebec has several immigration programs, some which allow candidates to pursue Canadian permanent residence and some which allow candidate to apply for temporary residence in Canada.

  • CIC announces 24 month moratorium on applications to sponsor parents and grandparents

    CIC has announced that as of November 5, 2011 there will be a 24 month moratorium on new applications to sponsor parents and grandparents in order to reduce the current backlog. New applications received on or after November 5, 2011 will be returned to the applicant. The moratorium will not affect sponsorship applications for spouses, dependent or adopted children, or other eligible relatives.

  • Closure of the visa office in Tehran

    Effactive immidiately , the visa and immigration section at the embassy of Canada in Iran (Tehran) is closed and services have been transfered to the embassy of Canada in Turkey ( Ankara). If you are in Iran and want to submit a temprary resident application, you must now apply throught the visa office in Ankara. You are not required to include your passport with your application . The visa office in Ankara will contact you if the visa is ready to be issued and make the necessary arrangements in order to faciliate this process in person. All temporary resident applications that have already been submitted will be transfered to Ankara where the processing will resume.
