IRCC to review the Post-Graduation Work Permit for first time in 10 years

IRCC is set to reform the International Student Program, enhancing measures against fraud and ensuring genuine acceptance letters for study permits. By fall 2024, a "recognized institution" framework will prioritize study permit processing for Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs).

For the first time in a decade, the IRCC will reassess the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). The PGWP is essential for those seeking permanent residency.

The number of PGWP holders has surged, with significant increases in graduates from China and India and many transitioning to permanent residency, evidenced by the over 157,000 conversions in 2021 alone.
