Getting Ready to Launch Express Entry

Applications will be processed in six months or less

With less than one month left to lunch Express Entry , a new selection system to select qualified skilled workers and professionals for Canadian immigration comes into operation.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) this week revealed details about its Comprehensive Ranking System. With this information, potential candidates for immigration to Canada now have a more clear picture of how Express Entry will operate.

The Comprehensive Ranking System will rank candidates who have made an expression of interest in immigrating to Canada and are eligible for one of three federal economic immigration programs:
• Federal Skilled worker program
• Federal skill trades program
• Canadian Experience class

Eligible applicants will enter the Express Entry pool and be ranked against other candidates .Created profile will remain in pool for a full period of one year . The end of one year period if no selection is made the applicant may create a new profile .

There are up to 1,200 points available under the system, with the following segments. 1200 points is divided into 2 sections of 600 points .The first 600 is based on the human core eligibility and the second 600 is assigned to applicants with job offer or provincial selection certificate . Detailed information on pointing system is as follow :

Applicant's with accompanying spouse or common-law partner

Up to 1200 points for the candidate’s core human capital factors, including age, level of education , language ability and the work experience outside and inside Canada in addition to job offer or provincial selection certificate.

• Maximum 390 points for the age, language and education of the principal applicant.
• Maximum 40 points for the age, language and education of the accompanying spouse or common law partner.
• Maximum 70 points for the outside Canada work experience of the principal applicant.
• Maximum 100 points will be awarded for the skills transferability of the candidate.
• 600 points will be awarded to candidates who has either a qualifying offer of arranged employment from a Canadian employer or a nomination certificate from a Canadian province.

Applicant's without accompanying spouse or common-law partner

Up to 1200 points for the candidate’s core human capital factors, including age, level of education , language ability and the work experience outside and inside Canada in addition to job offer or provincial selection certificate.

• Maximum 420 points for the age, language and education of the principal applicant.
• Maximum 80 points for the outside Canada work experience of the principal applicant
• Maximum 100 points with some conditions will be awarded for the skills transferability of the candidate
• 600 points will be awarded to candidates who has either a qualifying offer of arranged employment from a Canadian employer or a nomination certificate from a Canadian province.

It is important to mention that the evaluation of educational credential in addition to the language test result is required to be provided at the first stage of process .
