British Columbia issued more than 500 invitations through the BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) on August 6, targeting candidates working in several high-demand occupations.
The latest Skills Immigration draw focused on five occupational groups under the province’s Care and Build priorities: childcare, healthcare, education, veterinary care, and construction trades.
Construction trades received the highest number of invitations, with 187 candidates invited at a minimum score of 88. Another 183 invitations went to childcare candidates with a minimum score of 102.
Healthcare workers received 124 invitations with a cut-off score of 84, while six candidates in veterinary care were invited with a minimum score of 72. Fewer than five invitations were issued in education, where the minimum score was 68.
BC continues to prioritize essential occupations
The August 6 round was British Columbia’s fifth occupation-specific Skills Immigration selection of 2026.
The province has been adjusting its immigration selections to focus more closely on areas facing labour shortages. Future draws may therefore target different occupations or use factors such as work experience, education, language ability, wage, job location, and other provincial priorities.
So far in 2026, the BC PNP has issued at least 4,236 invitations through Skills Immigration.
More than 8,000 candidates remain in the pool
There were 8,306 registrations in the BC PNP Skills Immigration pool as of the latest reporting period.
Candidates with scores between 100 and 109 made up the largest group, with 1,651 registrations. This was followed by candidates scoring between 90 and 99, with 1,468 registrations, and those between 110 and 119, with 1,332.
Candidates in the registration pool may be considered in future BC PNP invitation rounds depending on the selection criteria used by the province.
